SheSails Seattle offers a large variety of sailing lessons, charters, and co-ed and women’s-only classes.
Intro to Sailing
Our Introduction to Sailing class is very hands-on and covers a lot of information in a short period of time. You will learn the basic layout of a sailboat, some essential sailing terminology, a knot or two and most importantly, the fundamentals of using the wind to move the boat. You will have an opportunity to try different roles while practicing steering, tacking and gybing, trimming sails and interacting with other crew members. We work hard to make sure it is safe, fun and educational. We hope that this “taste” of sailing will leave you wanting more!
Our Sailing Basics course is the perfect class for people who have some experience on sailboats and want to be able to contribute more to the process as an active member of the crew. You will have a much better understanding of what is happening on the boat whether you are out for a day sail or participating in a race. We will cover everything from how to help with smaller tasks like tying on fenders to more involved processes like working with other crew to help tack and gybe the boat and trim a sail to the skipper’s course.Book Now
Beyond the Basics
Our Beyond the Basics course starts with the basics and then builds. In the additional three classes, you will get lots of extra skills practice, plus, we will cover more advanced skills like crew-overboard maneuvers, reefing and docking. We will discuss situations that can arise in different sailing conditions and what you can do to keep yourself and your crew safe and happy. If you are sailing with a partner, acting as a first mate or thinking of moving beyond crew and considering skippering your own boat, this class might be just right for you.Book Now
